Faith Ringgold (1930 – 2024), was an American painter, author, mixed media sculptor, performance artist, and intersectional activist, perhaps best known for her narrative quilts. Her work combined African American history, identity, storytelling, and quilting to produce works of fine art that often address matters of injustice, violence, feminism, and equal rights.
